The sheared Scotch Pine originated with Andrew Abraczinskas, one of the pioneers of the Christmas tree industry over 85 years ago. Growers and extension personnel from universities as far away as Michigan came to view and learn Andrew's techniques of shearing.
In 1950, his son, Anthony "Duke" Abraczinskas planted over 100 acres in Douglas Fir, having the foresight to see the advantages of this variety for a new Christmas tree in the Eastern United States.
With the cooperation of his four sons, Anthony "Duke" Jr., Donald, Jerome and Eugene, the corporation expanded to over 2,500 acres of quality Christmas trees. Because of demand for better trees, we began growing our own evergreen seedlings and transplants.
Abraczinskas Nurseries Inc. is presently operated by five of Andrew's great-grandchildren, each of whom takes an active part in furthering the family tradition of growing AAA quality trees. The company currently boasts 5 million trees with more than 2500 acres in production, many for the Balled and Burlap markets.
